Beth Hirsch

Having found fame as the singer on the seminal Air album “Moon Safari” Beth Hirsch went on to record two albums on Studio!K7 with “Early Days” and “Titles & Idols” prior to her recent self release “Wholehearted” which attained great reviews in her native USA.

Having worked with the Ho Hum team on the album “Titles & Idols” it was a priority when starting the company that a production with Beth ensued and ‘Something to Tell’ was the first piece the label started working on. Featuring guitars by Alex Pilkington and a string arrangement by Caroline Daniel, “Something to Tell” revisits the cool of Air’s “All I Need” but with a folkier arm.

Having heard The Willow’s “So Many Things” Beth declared her love for the track, and Ho Hum’s The Willow was only too happy to re-work the song as a duet with Beth, recording the track in both LA and London and featuring Mark Tucker on piano. Again full of emotional energy this beautiful acoustic slice.

Recent collaborations have seen Beth grace releases from Jakatta, Gelka and D*Note and she continues to play live in LA, Paris and London.

Crispian Mills

A decade ago, following sales of over a million for both “K” and “Pigs and Astronaughts” Crispian Mills sought out a new challenge and a break from Kula Shaker. With good advice, Mills hired the services of Mark Pritchard (Harmonic 313, Troubleman, Global Communications and many more) and David Brinkworth (Harmonic 33, Farout Recordings) and set off to make a solo album recording in both Cornwall and on David Gilmour’s house-boat studio in London.

Alas the album never got released, and almost 10 years later Ho Hum Records have unearthed two gems from the period in “Healing Hands” and “Be Merciful” available at long last on both 7” and digital download formats.

Crispian Mills, also writes for film and over the past few years has released two further Kula Shaker studio albums to great acclaim.

Flotilla

Techno driven beats and electronic ambiences make up the parts to Flotilla. Big things are expected from the duo, following a debut EP which has been played by Rob da Bank, Mary Anne Hobbs, Ross Allen, Benji B, Nick Luscombe to name a few on their respective radio shows. Described as 'The Godfather meets DJ Shadow' by Boomkat, the music has a south London energy and paranoia. This is a must for any whom like their music electric, heavy and hypnotic.

Flotilla have recently completed a remix of 'Pain Killers' for Lauren Pritchard soon to be released on Island Records.

More will follow from the duo's debut EP released on Ho Hum in 2010. Watch this space..

Metamono

Metamono was formed in 2009 by 2 musicians and a fine artist on the search for new horizons. The idea: to create analogue electronic music in strict adherence to a manifesto - a set of rules which on one hand would restrict their options but on the other would liberate our creativity and force them to engage in new methods. The manifesto was agreed upon before a single sound was made - instruments were built, modified, stolen, recycled and reconstructed.

The debut EP from the band, named 'Tape EP' is released on Ho Hum on the 23rd January 2012 on limited edition 10" vinyl, as well as download. Described by one reviewer as; "vibrating otherworldliness of the Theremin, and the static-crisp, lost transmissions from an atavistic valve radio, you find yourself taken back to the era of R&S Records, Basic Channel, early Warp and the age of intelligent Acid-Techno" Source: http://godisinthetvzine.co.uk (http://s.tt/15hKN)

This is not to be missed. Grab your copy of the vinyl from the Ho Hum shop whilst stocks last. Link below

Metamono are:

JONO PODMORE aka KUMO, PAUL CONBOY and MARK HILL
